The Foundation's School-Based Adolescent Health Care Program was designed to strengthen the capacity of communities and families to meet the multiple health and health-related needs of adolescents by utilizing local public secondary schools as a principal locus of care.This is a 2nd-phase grant awarded under the 19-site national program, to provide comprehensive health services to the 1,790 adolescents at Harding High School. The clinic is staffed by one full-time nurse practitioner and medical assistant; part-time ob/gyn nurse practitioner, social worker, nutritionist, health educator, and physician. Prenatal, postpartum and gynecological assessments will be provided at the clinic by an ob/gyn specialist. Pregnant adolescents and family planners will be referred to HealthStart clinic sites. There are pharmacy services on site. Medical backup is provided by St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center.
