This grant supports the establishment of a network of six school-based adolescent health centers in a 16 -county area of Southeast Georgia. A multi-service referral center is in place which provides in one setting the full spectrum of special care treatment adolescents might require. Two others are planned under this project. Each of the six health teams will consist of a public health nurse with NP skills, a mental health counselor and a clerk/receptionist. Medical backup will be provided by the District Health Office. Space will be provided by the local schools. Written assurance from the State Department of Human Resources indicates it will finance continuation of this regional program after RWJF's grant expires.
