The Foundation's Summer Medical Education Program (previously known as the Minority Medical Education Program) was designed to help minority students compete for medical school acceptance. The purpose of this project is to increase minority student acceptance rates into medical schools. The minority students eligible to participate in this program are from those population groups that are underrepresented in American medicine: blacks, Mexican-Americans, Native Americans, and mainland Puerto Ricans. Students will be enrolled in a special summer education program, which will include academic enrichment, a structured laboratory experience, MCAT preparation, and counseling.
