Seeking DIY Nurses – New MakerNurse Initiative Launches

At World Maker Faire in NYC this past weekend, MIT’s Little Devices Lab and Pioneer unveiled MakerNurse, a nationwide initiative to find nurses who are fabricating new devices and improvising workarounds to fix problems in the way health care is delivered.
Because nurses are on the front lines of health care delivery and closer to the patient than conventional engineering labs in America, they are uniquely positioned to design break-through solutions to improve patient care. Yet too often nurse inventions remain stuck in the units where they practice because they don’t have the resources and support to bring them into the spotlight.
MakerNurse aims to elevate and accelerate the ingenuity of nurses working across the United States, starting over the next six months by uncovering and collecting stories from inventive nurses. Learn more at www.makernurse.org.
