Jobs Database Aims to Advance Minorities Into Health Management Positions

Database to match minority professionals with appropriate health care management positions

The Institute for Diversity in Health Management created a database to link minority candidates to entry- to executive-level health management job openings.

The Institute was established in 1994 to facilitate the advancement of minorities in health service management positions.

Key Results: As reported to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), the Institute accomplished the following:

  • Developed ONLINE, a database that included resumes from ethnic minority students and professionals, as well as job descriptions and listings of career opportunities.
  • Devised a survey tool to assess the skills and demographics of registered candidates, and gathered over 1,000 resumes.
  • IFD developed marketing and promotional materials to promote worker and employer awareness and utilization of the database.
  • In 1999, reformulated ONLINE as an interactive website which offers a searchable database of qualified minority candidates, areas for discussion and networking, a mentor matching program and a place for employers to post job openings. As of the end of 2007, the website was no longer active.
