2005: Philadelphia Eagles Youth Partnership

    • February 28, 2010

Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP) was founded in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) public charity. The organization helps kids to reach their potential, bringing health and educational resources to more than 50,000 children each year who are facing ‘4th & long” odds. Leveraging the brand and resources of the Philadelphia Eagles Football Club, which is the organization’s largest donor, EYP operates on a $2 million annual budget and provides comprehensive vision care, literacy programs and safe spaces for children to thrive.
Signature programs include:

  • Eagles Eye Mobile – providing eye exams, glasses and follow-up care for thousands of children each year who would otherwise lack access;
  • Eagles Book Mobile – providing interactive storybook readings and new books to keep for tens of thousands of children who have few or none;
  • Eagles School Yard Blitz – engaging the entire Eagles organization in an annual day of service that, as one principal said, “transformed our school from a prison to a paradise.” The project includes multi-story murals, play structures, turf fields and landscaping.

“Being honored with the Steve Patterson Sports Philanthropy Award gave Eagles Youth Partnership a bump in legitimacy and visibility across the field of sports philanthropy, allowing the ripple effect of our work to extend beyond our region. Since receiving the award, we have provided technical assistance for vision care programs linked to NFL teams in Cleveland and Tampa and continue to be a resource for other teams in other cities across the country. We might be fierce competitors on the field, but ‘in the field,’ we are all on the same team.”
