Beth Toner

Senior Communications Officer

Beth Toner, senior communications officer, has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and corporate communications. She is also a registered nurse with clinical experience in long-term care and community health settings.

In her current role, Toner focuses on supporting communications that highlight our efforts to analyze the value we receive for our investments in population health, public health and health care, as well as implement strategies for improving value. She sees this work as an opportunity to make sure we not only do the right things in health and health care, but also that we do them in the right way.

Toner returned to RWJF in April 2014, after leaving to pursue an opportunity at Accolade, a health consumer services company, in September 2013.

She initially joined the Foundation in 2012 from The Hartford, where she was director of marketing initiatives for the Advanced Markets Group. As part of that team, she coordinated marketing efforts designed to educate financial advisors and consumers about the needs created by increasing longevity. She also coordinated the development of educational and marketing materials based on The Hartford’s collaborative work with the MIT AgeLab.

Prior to her work with The Hartford, Toner was a senior web content developer for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has also served as a multimedia communications specialist for the University of Pennsylvania Health System and a public relations coordinator for Harleysville Insurance.

Toner holds an associate of applied science in nursing from Delaware County Community College, a bachelor’s degree in communications from Messiah College, and a master of journalism degree from Temple University.

Born in Detroit, Toner currently lives in Elverson, Pa., with her husband, Joe, and her three children. She enjoys hiking, camping, and running marathons, and has completed 22 marathons to date.
