The Honorable Thomas H. Kean, M.A.

Chairman

The Honorable Thomas H. Kean, M.A., was elected chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in January 2005, effective April 2005. He has been a member of the Board since July 1990. Kean is presently chairman of THK Consulting, LLC.

Kean served as governor of New Jersey from 1982 to 1990 and as president of Drew University, Madison, N.J., from 1990 to 2005.

Kean has served on the President’s Education Policy Advisory Committee and as chair of the Education Commission of the States and the National Governors Association’s Task Force on Teaching. He served on various commissions under presidents of both parties, including chair of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States. He has received honorary degrees from 25 colleges and universities.

Kean received an M.A. from Columbia Teachers College and an A.B. from Princeton University.
