Edward J. Hartnett was elected to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Board of Trustees in January 2001.
Hartnett is a retired company group chairman of Johnson & Johnson responsible for Ethicon Inc. and other device businesses and international affiliates. He previously served as vice president and general manager of the Patient Care Division of Johnson & Johnson Products, following a two-year assignment as group vice president of marketing for the consumer and professional divisions.
Hartnett serves as a trustee of the Somerset Medical Center Foundation, Somerville, N.J., and The Royal College of Surgeons Foundation (United States affiliate of the English college). Previously, he served as a board member and trustee of the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in Piscataway, N.J., and the Boston University School of Management Board (alumnus member). He also served as trustee of the Health Care Technology Institute, the National Committee for Quality Health Care and the Health Industry Manufacturers Association.
Hartnett received a B.S. from Boston University School of Management and did additional graduate studies in statistics and market research.
