Charles D. Ellis, Ph.D., M.B.A.

Charles D. Ellis, Ph.D., M.B.A., was elected to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Board of Trustees in January 2007.

Ellis, an internationally prominent investment adviser, is a consultant to large institutional investors in America and Asia. For 30 years he was managing partner of Greenwich Associates, an international business strategy consulting firm he founded that serves virtually all the leading financial service organizations around the world. He has taught investment management courses at Harvard and Yale, is the author of 12 books, and has written nearly 100 articles for business and professional magazines. Ellis has served on the boards of Harvard Business School, Stern Schools of Business at New York University and Phillips Exeter Academy. He is currently chair of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, a director of Vanguard and Greenwich Associates, and successor trustee and Investment Committee chair at Yale University.

A graduate of Yale University, Ellis earned a Ph.D. from New York University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
